Welcome to Year 1
On this page you will be able to find information about all of the exciting topics covered in our year, keep up to date with your child’s learning and view pictures from our trips and special events.
Year one is very much a transition year, from the child initiated learning in Reception to the more formal delivery of lessons in Year 2.
We still have many of the areas the children are familiar with such as construction, role play, creative, writing and access to an outdoor area however these areas are used in a way that challenges the children both in their thinking and their independent learning skills.
Year 1 takes pride in nurturing each child, ensuring they are ready for the years of education ahead.
Year One used lots of energy and showed some impressive movements during their participation in Whickham School's Dance Festival last Wednesday afternoon.
